Raheny Guides take part in CampOne in Larch Hill Scout and Guide Campsite
Wed 24th to Sun 28th July 2013
CampOne was the first in a series of big camps to take place over the next five years at the five National Scout Centres - starting with Larch Hill as they celebrate 75 years of camping. The best way for us to tell you about it is show you some pictures and share what the girls thought of the camp themselves...
"I loved everything! Our patrol learned loads of new camp skills. The activities were amazing. I loved meeting new people and the best of all was building our first table. It was so cool! I can't wait to go to camp two!"
"I loved the way it was so independent."
"We learned lots of new things e.g. lashing, cooking and teamwork."
"I enjoyed making new friends and learning how to do different knots and lashings. I also liked doing vertigo - we climbed onto trees and did lots of different challenges. I loved every part of the camp!"
"At CampOne we made a table and learned square lashings, frapping, clove hitch, and striped lashings."
"We thought it was a very good experience because we had not done anything like it [before]. The challenges were very exciting and it was a lot of fun."
"I liked the way we got to meet new people. The activities were really well thought out and really fun. I hope we can go to the rest of the camps."

Raheny Guides, Rangers and Guiders celebrate Halloween
Wednesday 24th October 2012
This year, each Patrol picked a theme for their patrol to dress up as, rather than individually dressing up, and a game linked to the theme for each patrol to get to play. Here's a few photos from the night.
The Wizard of Oz Patrol (aka Koala Patrol)
The Witches Patrol (aka Pelican Patrol)
The Disney/Pixar Patrol (aka Kangaroo Patrol)
The Where's Wally? Patrol (aka Dolphin Patrol)
Finally, the Rangers and Leaders couldn't let the Guides have all the fun! The Rangers dressed up as the Bananas in Pyjamas and the Leaders were Famous females.
National Guide Weekend
Patrol Leaders, Fiona and Caoimhe, attended the National Guide Weekend on Friday 12th to Sunday 14th October 2012
Raheny Guides and Rangers visit Wexford
From Friday 28th to Sunday 30th September 2012, a Christmas-themed camp was enjoyed by all at Carne Centre, Wexford.
Christmas Cake, Christmas Games, Christmas Crafts, the Late Late Toy Show - it can't get any more Christmassy than this, can it? Oh wait! Christmas dinner too and even a visit from the man (woman) him (her)self!
We also enrolled our newest members of Raheny Rangers, in a special candlelit ceremony under the stars in Wexford.
Chief Commissioner's Award
On 15th September 2012, Caoimhe, Kate, Fiona and Aoife were presented with their awards by Cllr Micheal "Spike" Nolan (Lord Mayor for Kildare) in Maynooth Campus. Congratulations, girls! And a special congratulations to Aoife who received the special merit gold badge.
Yvonne Browne got married
Yvonne Browne, Raheny Guider and International Commissioner for CGI, got married on September 7th. Some of the Guides and Rangers came along to see her off and wish her well. May you and Dave have many happy years together.
